About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Food Safety Quality Assurance Coordinator to support day-to-day quality assurance activities at our Philadelphia facility. This role plays a key part in maintaining our Global Quality System (GQS) and ensuring compliance with customer requirements, FDA and USDA regulations, HACCP programs, and internal food safety standards.
You'll support daily inspections, audits, environmental monitoring, documentation review, employee training, and performance tracking to help drive food safety excellence and continuous improvement across the operation.
Schedule
This position has a set daily schedule, with availability required to complete pre-operational inspections and quality checks before production begins. Because airline catering operates around the clock, flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required.
What You'll Do
Maintain records and key performance indicators related to food safety, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and internal and airline customer requirements
Complete pre-operational inspections and quality checks before production begins
Perform daily monitoring of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Verify cooler and freezer temperature compliance
Conduct environmental swabs and microbiological sampling, and submit samples to a local lab for analysis
Pull Chef Table samples to verify compliance with specifications
Support quality leadership with training and daily initiatives addressing quality, food safety, and sanitation
Conduct workstation inspections, including product specification checks, sanitizer verification, food temperatures, HACCP documentation, and potentially hazardous food set-up
Conduct portion control weight checks and inspections across dispatch, galley, bonded and non-bonded areas, and equipment
Verify that HACCP logs and related documentation are completed accurately each day
Create charts, trending reports, training materials, and visuals
Maintain and train employees on Regulated Garbage Standards to meet USDA requirements
Support jump-off (commissary) locations with oversight as needed
Train hourly employees and perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer literacy and basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; additional systems and processes can be learned on the job
Food production, cooking, or food-service experience preferred; experience involving Critical Control Points (CCPs) and HACCP is transferable to this role
Previous quality assurance experience or familiarity with HACCP, PCQI, or USDA requirements is a plus
Ability to follow standard operating procedures, interpret basic charts and trends, and use calculators, weight scales, and thermometers
Familiarity with metal detectors, ATP testing equipment, and mechanical food portioning or processing equipment is helpful
Ability to work in a cold environment below 40°F
Ability to lift and push a minimum of 25 lbs.
Strong math, analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate with leadership, and solve problems
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with large groups
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays and be available for checks before production starts
