Forklift Operator and Materials Handler

We are seeking a Forklift Operator to join our Shipping Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating forklifts and powered industrial vehicles within the building and between buildings. This includes moving and loading various manufactured products and materials around various locations. The operator will work closely with the Shipping and Receiving Department, as well as the wider manufacturing shop floor, to ensure timely, accurate and safe delivery and transportation of products and materials. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safely operate forklifts and powered industrial vehicles and other handling equipment to transport materials and products throughout the facility.


2.  Pack, wrap, load and unload trucks, pallets, and other storage areas using forklifts, ensuring proper handling and placement of goods.


3. Ensure goods and materials are safely transported.


4. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of forklifts, trucks and equipment, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.


5. Assist with shipping and receiving when necessary, including inventory management, packing, labelling and organizing materials.


6. Follow safety procedures and protocols at all times to prevent accidents, injuries and damage. 


7. Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Forklift Operation: Demonstrated proficiency in operating forklift and other material handling equipment in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.


2. Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols relating to forklift operation and material handling.


3. Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately follow instructions, maintain detailed records, and identify discrepancies in inventory counts.


4. Physical Stamina: Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various climate conditions. 


5. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve common goals.


6. Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities, schedules, and work environments as needed.


7. Full, clean, driving record and current license required. Experience driving a box truck is essential.
