We are seeking a highly skilled Detail Engineer with a strong background in 3D Modeling and Drafting (Autodesk AutoCAD or similar), to take on contracted work for up to 3 months, in the fast-paced tradeshow booth building industry. In this role, you’ll be responsible for creating precise fabrication-ready drawings and 3D models to support the design and manufacturing of custom tradeshow exhibits and environments.
This is a critical role that bridges creative design and production, requiring a detail-oriented mindset, technical expertise, and a solid understanding of materials, construction methods, and CNC fabrication processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed 3D fabrication drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD (or similar programs), based on design intent and production requirements.
Create accurate 3D models for setup visualization, engineering analysis, and CNC file prep using AutoCAD 3D (or similar programs).
Interpret design concepts and translate them into production-ready documentation for carpenters, CNC operators, and vendors.
Break down booth components into individual parts for 2D CNC layout, including labeling, nesting, and material optimization.
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and shop personnel to ensure feasibility, constructability, and quality.
Maintain consistency with company drafting standards and file management practices.
Identify and resolve engineering or construction challenges in the detailing phase.
Required Qualifications:
Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD 3D Drafting (minimum 3 years experience in a professional setting).
Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD 3D Modeling for structural and component-based layouts.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.
Strong understanding of materials, fasteners, and construction techniques used in exhibit or interior build-outs.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Familiarity with Adobe pdf’s for redline processes.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks, with ability to adapt to Inventor).
Experience in cabinet making, display building, or carpentry.
Familiarity with 2D CNC layout workflows, including material nesting and part labeling.
Prior experience in the tradeshow, exhibit, or themed environment industry.
