Residential Transitions, Inc. (RTI) is seeking a Full-Time Mental Health Worker to join our team at a residential program in Bloomington, Minnesota.
This position offers a $500 hiring bonus, paid as follows:
- $250 after 3 months of employment
- $250 after 6 months of employment
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM
Location: Bloomington, MN
Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Position Overview
Mental Health Workers, operating in a Direct Support Professional (DSP) capacity, provide direct support services and independent living skills training to individuals served in RTI's 24-hour residential programs.
This position is assigned to a residential program located in Bloomington, MN and works directly with individuals in a home setting managed by RTI. Individuals served may include those with a severe mental illness (SMI) diagnosis and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
The Mental Health Worker reports to the Program Manager and has no direct reports.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
- Support individuals with mental health management by identifying and practicing coping skills and alternative strategies.
- Teach and model community integration and independent living skills, including self-managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, utilizing public transportation, completing tasks necessary to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
- Interact with individuals to facilitate socialization and promote appropriate interpersonal skills and behaviors.
- Participate in scheduled and spontaneous recreational activities.
- Teach and model healthy living habits and assist individuals in developing the skills necessary to maintain them.
- Provide person-centered support consistent with each individual's goals and RTI's program philosophy.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- One year of work experience supporting individuals with severe mental illness and/or traumatic brain injury.
- Ability to successfully pass a Department of Human Services background study.
- Ability to pass the BCA Criminal Background Check and Sexual Exploitation of Patients by Psychotherapists screening required by DHS.
- Ability to pass applicable screening required by the Federal Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
- Ability to organize responsibilities and work independently.
- Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and access to a personal vehicle with valid insurance.
- Ability and willingness to transport individuals served when required.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.
- A person-centered approach consistent with the philosophy of RTI and the individual program.
- Ability to perform other duties as needed as the company and role evolve.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- At least one year of direct experience working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI).
