Full Time Mental Health Technician Needed For S/M/T And M/T/W Night Rotation 7P-7A

Position Summary

Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital is hiring a Full-Time Mental Health Technician for the 7p–7a S/M/T and M/T/W night rotation in Baton Rouge, LA 70816. This role supports safe, respectful care by assisting with patient monitoring, basic care needs, and therapeutic support under nursing direction.

Key responsibilities include documenting observed behaviors/vital signs and notable events; assisting nurses and the activity director with patient care tasks and therapeutic interventions; supporting meal coordination and kitchen clean-up; helping patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, feeding, hygiene/diaper changes); maintaining unit and facility cleanliness; and providing schedule flexibility for coverage as needed.

Required qualifications/skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- CPR certification; maintain CPI certification
- 1+ year mental health experience preferred
- Clear communication; ability to follow written/verbal instructions in a demanding, distraction-prone setting
- Empathic, respectful approach with strong personal integrity
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients per essential functions

Night Shift Flow

On nights, you’ll follow a structured 7p–7a rhythm: receive handoff, review priorities with the team, and keep steady, calm awareness of the unit. You’ll rotate between rounding, timely charting, and responding to patient requests with a warm, professional approach. Breaks in activity are used to reset common areas, restock essentials, and confirm the environment remains orderly. You’ll coordinate closely with nursing when a patient’s status changes and keep communication clear and concise throughout the shift.
