Our team is seeking a Special Education Teacher for an Illinois school setting serving approximately 10 students with diverse learning and developmental needs. Most students on this caseload have autism, including some who require more intensive support.
This position is ideal for an educator who can create a consistent classroom routine, adapt instruction, and promote student growth in a structured environment.
Your Role in the Classroom
The selected teacher will develop and deliver instruction tailored to students’ individual abilities, educational goals, and IEPs. Responsibilities include supporting academic, behavioral, communication, and functional skills; applying positive behavior strategies; and maintaining a safe, organized learning environment. The teacher will also document student progress, contribute to IEP meetings and planning, and coordinate with families, paraprofessionals, and related-service professionals to ensure consistent student support.
Requirements
Applicants must hold an active Illinois PEL with the appropriate Special Education endorsement and a bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field. Experience working with students with autism, significant support needs, or in a self-contained setting is preferred. Strong communication, organization, classroom management, and collaboration skills are important for this position.
