General Manager

The General Manager at Dominique Dawes Academy is responsible for overseeing daily operations, program planning, and business performance across all gymnastics and ninja fitness offerings, including recreational classes, competitive teams, camps, events, and more.

The General Manager ensures high programming standards and participant experiences while driving business success through revenue growth, member retention, and customer satisfaction, and provides on-floor oversight — serving as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed — to support safety and daily operations alongside the Program Manager and Program Lead.

The General Manager is a dynamic leader passionate about youth athletics and enrichment programming, with strong operational skills and business acumen to manage staff, coaches, and administrators. This role coordinates logistics, scheduling, curriculum standards, coach development, and program evaluation, collaborates closely with marketing and leadership teams, and identifies opportunities to enhance offerings and grow Dominique Dawes Academy's customer base.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage staff, coaches, and administrators, handling recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management to build a strong, motivated team.
• Ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining proactive communication with families, resolving concerns, and fostering a positive, welcoming environment.
• Oversee financial management, including budgeting, labor cost management, tracking KPIs such as revenue, retention, and customer satisfaction, and making data-driven decisions for program optimization.
• Drive sales initiatives, manage community outreach, conduct facility tours, and assist in converting leads into enrollments to achieve revenue and membership goals.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager to conduct coach evaluations and uphold program quality.
• Review facility safety and equipment inspection reports, follow up on outstanding incident reports, and ensure ongoing compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Oversee all gymnastics and ninja fitness programs year-round, including recreational classes, competitive teams, camps, and events, ensuring alignment with Dominique Dawes Academy’s mission and standards.
• Lead the development of class schedules, program calendars, and event logistics plans to support efficient operations and high-quality participant experiences.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager to implement and maintain curriculum standards.
• Plan special programs and events, ensuring they are well-organized, impactful, and aligned with Dominique Dawes Academy’s community engagement goals.
• Collaborate closely with the Executives and leadership team on strategy, marketing efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) for scheduled shifts as needed, overseeing daily floor operations, safety, and staff presence.
• Conduct periodic on-floor safety walkthroughs and respond promptly to incidents or emergencies.
• Provide on-the-day oversight of special programs and events as needed, in partnership with the Program Manager and Member Experience Coordinator.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, recreation, sports management, hospitality, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant management experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years of management or leadership experience in youth athletics, recreation, fitness, hospitality, retail, or customer-focused service environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing employees, including staff, scheduling, training, coaching and performance management.
• Experience managing daily business operations and key business metrics, including revenue, labor, customer satisfaction, and retention.
• Proven ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in a customer-facing environment with a strong focus on delivering exceptional service.
• Familiarity with iClassPro (preferred).
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

Work Schedule & Environment

• Includes afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts
• Must be available for evenings and weekends as needed for programs, events, and operational requirements
• Indoor work environment with regular interactions with children, families, and staff

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move gymnastics and ninja equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to regularly use a computer and other technology to complete scheduling, communication, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and active engagement with athletes and staff
• Comfortable working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
• Regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively via phone, email, and in person.
