General Manager, California

Job Description - General Manager, California

Who We Are

We are a small team obsessed with deep thinking, speed, craftsmanship, and a customer-first approach.

Our mission is to build the best care experience in healthcare, with a 30-year horizon. We are builders, physicians, and operators with deep experience across healthcare and technology. Our team brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience building and operating independent practices, including urgent care and surgical centers.

We have also built and shaped products used by millions of people at companies including Meta, Dropbox, Instagram, Coda, and Nomad.

Collectively, our team has launched multiple zero-to-one products, helped scale companies beyond $1 billion in valuation, and grown products to more than 100 million monthly active users.

Today, we help physicians achieve independence by making it easier to start, operate, and grow their own practices.

We believe the future of healthcare will be shaped not by larger bureaucratic systems, but by empowered physicians. By lowering the barriers to practice ownership, we enable doctors to spend more time caring for patients, build enduring practices, and deliver a better healthcare experience.

We have reached $10M+ ARR in under 14 months (placing us in the top decile for growth among companies at our stage), are profitable, and are backed by top-tier healthcare investors.

The Role

You will own California and build it from roughly $10M in ARR into a billion-dollar revenue business.

This is a true GM role. You will set the strategy, make the key bets, build the team and operating model, and own the results. You will decide where we grow, what we prioritize, and what needs to change as the business scales.

You need to be equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and one inch. At 10,000 feet, you will shape the market strategy, identify the biggest growth opportunities, and design the organization and operating model for scale. At one inch, you will work directly with physicians and frontline teams to solve problems, fix broken processes, unblock growth, and improve the experience.

A major part of the role is building AI-native operations from the ground up. You will rethink how the business should run, not just automate what already exists. That means using technology to drive speed, consistency, and scale, while knowing where human judgment, trust, and hands-on support are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Own growth, operations, and overall performance for California.

  • Develop the regional strategy and translate it into clear operating plans.

  • Design AI-native operational workflows across the physician journey.

  • Determine which processes should be automated, AI-assisted, or human-led.

  • Work directly with physicians to understand pain points and improve practice performance.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to launch new markets, add physicians, and grow existing practices.

  • Partner with product, engineering, and central operations teams to turn operational needs into scalable tools.

You Might Be a Fit If

  • You have 7–12 years of operating experience.

  • Your background may include healthcare startups, management consulting, private-equity operating roles, or other high-growth operating environments.

  • You have owned a market, business unit, operational function, or significant business outcome.

  • You can move seamlessly between strategy and hands-on execution.

  • You understand how to redesign operations around AI rather than simply add technology to existing processes.

  • You have strong judgment about where automation creates leverage and where human involvement creates a better experience.

  • You are a self-starter who can develop a plan and execute it end to end.

  • You are comfortable solving complex problems with limited structure or information.

  • You have a roll-up-your-sleeves approach and are willing to work directly with teams and customers.

  • You move quickly, hold a high bar for quality, and take full ownership of results.

  • You are a thoughtful, low-ego teammate. We want to play long-term games with long-term people.

What We Offer

  • Medical insurance through Blue Shield of California, with multiple PPO and HMO options

  • Dental and vision insurance

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Lunch in the office

  • Competitive equity package

  • A high-trust, low-ego, high-ownership culture where people move fast, and take real responsibility
