Salary Range: $110,430 - $122,700

Salary Band: 30

 The BNSF Railway Engineering Department is responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining the infrastructure of our extensive rail network. This crucial role involves applying advanced engineering principles to address complex challenges, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. This is a full-time position is located in Denver, CO (PWR)

Travel is required approximately 50% - 70%

Key responsibilities may include: 

In addition to the responsibilities currently performed by Roadmasters, a GENERAL Roadmaster may be expected to:

• Territory point of contact for territory technology rollouts


• Asset utilization and tracking 


• Assist the Division Engineer in providing technical expertise and mentorship to new Roadmasters


• Assist the Division Engineer on special projects or other duties as assigned 


• Supplemental Division Engineer coverage for the territory


• Assist Mgr. Roadway Planning with STAMPs capital planning and training on an as needed basis 

Daily work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Must currently hold a Roadmaster position OR have previous Roadmaster experience


• BNSF First Line Supervisor (FLS) Certification


• Must have obtained BNSF Tier III Certification from a Manager of Engineering Certification


• Must have thorough knowledge of rules, procedures, and applicable railroad union agreements


• Must have strong working knowledge of Maintenance of Way track standards


• Must have a strong working knowledge of safe railroad operations and practices


• Must be safety conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety process


• Must be self-directed, motivated, and have good interpersonal and communication skills


• Capability to work in an office and field environment, climb ladders, and walk on uneven surfaces safely


• Computer literacy and basic accounting skills


• Must have the ability to communicate well, one-on-one, and in groups


• Willing to work extra hours to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualification:

• An Engineering based Bachelor’s Degree or other Construction Management related field


• Five years of experience in Maintenance of Way track standards in a supervisory capacity


• Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft desktop applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint


• Knowledge of company operations relative to the Engineering Department
