Generator Technician

As the Generator Technician, you will install, adjust, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment and parts in power-generating station.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Dismantle and overhaul and repair generators and auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, compressors, and pipe systems.

• Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on new or existing equipment.

• Fabricate special tools, rigging equipment, and replacement parts for equipment.

• May install wiring between machinery, switchboards, and control panels.

• Perform electrical power control and distribution functions.

• Perform inspections.

• Interpret inspection findings and determine corrective action.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent

• 3 years of related experience and advanced certification in assigned area required.

• CAT or Cummings Technician Certification required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Extensive knowledge in specialized functions.

• A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
