Giben Router Operator

Job Description - Giben Router Operator

Ready to take ownership of CNC production equipment and turn raw material into quality cabinet components?

At Qwikkit, our Giben Router Operator plays a key role in Parts Processing by operating a CNC router that cuts MDF sheets into doors, drawer fronts, and other cabinet components. You’ll combine attention to detail, mechanical awareness, and consistent production practices to ensure every sheet is processed accurately and each order moves to Sanding on schedule.

Who Thrives Here:

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy working with computerized production equipment, following detailed instructions, and catching problems before they affect the next operation. You work safely, stay organized, and understand how machine operation, tooling condition, material handling, and accurate part counts affect quality and productivity.

Taking Care of Our Team:

  • Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.

  • Eligibility for Qwikkit’s Shared Profit Program.

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • 401(k) plan and paid time off.

  • Company-paid life insurance.

  • Education reimbursement plan.

  • Employee referral program.

  • Employee assistance program.

What We Do:

Qwikkit is transforming apartment cabinet renovations by making the process faster, simpler, and more cost-effective. Our team combines decades of industry experience with technology, automation, and continuous improvement to deliver quality products to our customers.

Our Parts Processing team uses CNC equipment to transform MDF sheets into accurately cut doors, drawer fronts, and other cabinet components. Selecting the correct program, loading material properly, monitoring tooling, and maintaining accurate part counts are essential to reducing scrap, protecting quality, and keeping downstream operations moving.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to operate Qwikkit’s Giben CNC router safely and efficiently.

  • How to review production schedules, work orders, and nesting sheets.

  • How to select and run the correct nested CNC program.

  • How to load MDF sheets square and secure on the router table.

  • How to unload, count, separate, and organize completed parts.

  • How to inspect components for incorrect dimensions, tool marks, chipping, and profile defects.

  • How to recognize signs of worn, damaged, or broken router tooling.

  • How to check and change router bits according to established procedures.

  • How to document material usage, tool changes, output, and production issues.

  • How router accuracy and tooling condition affect Sanding, material utilization, and finished-product quality.

  • How to complete operator checklists and preventive-maintenance tasks.

  • How to coordinate with Parts Processing, Sanding, Quality, and Maintenance.

What Impact You Will Make:

Your equipment ownership and attention to detail will help ensure MDF sheets are processed accurately, safely, and at the expected production rate. By selecting the correct programs, verifying part counts, monitoring tooling, and identifying defects early, you will help prevent missing components, incorrect dimensions, excess scrap, and delayed orders.

You will also help maintain a consistent flow to Sanding by keeping orders separated, documenting material usage, reporting equipment concerns promptly, and supporting the daily care of the router and surrounding work area.

What You Will Become:

You will develop valuable experience in CNC router operation, nested manufacturing programs, MDF processing, production documentation, cutting-tool management, quality inspection, and preventive maintenance.

As your skills grow, you may have opportunities to expand your knowledge of CNC equipment, tooling, troubleshooting, material optimization, and other Parts Processing operations. This experience can also support future technical, training, or team-leadership responsibilities within Qwikkit.

The Exciting Things You’ll Do:

  • Review production schedules, work orders, nesting sheets, and program requirements before each run.

  • Load MDF sheets square and secure on the Giben router table.

  • Select and run the correct nested CNC program according to the Giben Router SOP.

  • Monitor the machine during operation and respond appropriately to faults or alarms.

  • Unload completed doors, drawer fronts, and other components.

  • Verify part counts against the nesting sheet and ensure each order remains complete and separated.

  • Stack parts by order and size on the appropriate carts.

  • Transfer completed orders to Sanding in the correct production sequence.

  • Inspect parts for correct dimensions, tool marks, chipping, profile defects, and other quality concerns.

  • Separate and report parts that do not meet Qwikkit’s standards.

  • Check and change router bits according to established requirements.

  • Document tooling changes and report worn, damaged, or broken tools.

  • Record MDF sheets used through the Giben tablet.

  • Report low material levels before inventory runs out.

  • Track production output and report issues affecting quality or productivity.

  • Notify the Supervisor and Maintenance promptly about equipment faults, alarms, or performance concerns.

  • Complete required daily operating checklists and preventive-maintenance tasks.

  • Keep the router table, vacuum pods, and surrounding work area clean and organized.

  • Follow all PPE, cutting-tool, dust-collection, material-handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Partner with Parts Processing, Sanding, Quality, and Maintenance to keep orders complete and on schedule.

  • Support other areas of the facility when needed.

What You Should Bring:

Must-haves:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.

  • Ability to read a tape measure and compare parts to work orders and specifications.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to perform repetitive production tasks consistently and accurately.

  • Basic mechanical awareness and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

  • Commitment to workplace safety and established operating procedures.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for a full shift.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, including handling MDF sheets with assistance, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to speak and understand English sufficiently to follow safety instructions and communicate with team members.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience operating a CNC router or other CNC production equipment.

  • Woodworking, cabinet-manufacturing, or panel-processing experience.

  • Experience changing router bits or other cutting tools.

  • Experience operating Giben, Biesse, Homag, or similar nesting-router equipment.

  • Familiarity with tablets or touchscreens used for production tracking.

  • Familiarity with 6S or workplace-organization practices.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
