Global Security - Security Officer

The Global Security (GS) North America Physical Security team consists of a dynamic group of security professionals who are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for our employees, clients, and assets in our retail and corporate environments in North America. 

The Global Security (GS) Team provides security protection, investigation, resiliency and crisis management services in support of JPMorganChase, its employees, customers, assets, and facilities throughout the world.  This responsibility includes the development of security and safety policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative compliance, Security Guard management, alarm response, branch and corporate building security, customer safety, physical crime investigations, workplace violence, fire and life safety.

As a Security Officer within the Global Security Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of critical areas and personnel, inspecting grounds, controlling and monitoring access to buildings, reporting fire and safety hazards, managing alarms, and responding to emergencies. You'll conduct counter-surveillance, manage alarms, respond to emergencies, defuse difficult situations, and provide security for special events. Your excellent communication skills will be essential in this role.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the safety and security of critical areas and personnel
• Inspecting grounds and premise property
• Controlling and monitoring access to building
• Reporting fire and safety Hazards
• Managing Alarms and Emergency Response
• Performing Counter Surveillance
• Defusing difficult situations
• Participating in Special Event Security, or Executive Security
• Maintaining annual security clearance
• Conduct Special event security 

• Standing / walking (post coverage & patrol)

• Ability to remain on post and stand for prolonged periods during a 9-hour tour, with a 1-hour meal break and two 15-minute rest breaks.
• Ability to walk for extended periods and conduct foot patrols throughout the building, including lobbies, corridors, loading dock areas, and other assigned locations.

• Stairs / emergency response

• Ability to climb and descend stairs during routine patrols and incident response, including when elevators are unavailable.

• Push / pull

• Ability to push/pull and operate doors, gates, and building entry points frequently throughout the shift.

• Postural activities

• Ability to bend/stoop occasionally (e.g., to inspect areas at the loading dock, retrieve items, or check equipment).

• Manual dexterity / hands-on tasks

• Manual dexterity to operate a two-way radio, access-control devices, keys/badges, and screening equipment, and to complete written/electronic logs and incident reports.

• Lifting / carrying (light work)

• Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently (e.g., small packages, screening items, light security equipment).

• Work environment / weather exposure (NYC)

• Posts may be assigned indoors, outdoors, or a combination of both depending on operational needs.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions typical of New York City for outdoor assignments, including summer heat/humidity and winter cold/wind/precipitation, and to transition between indoor and outdoor environments during a shift.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

• Must have active State Security Guard License
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification
• Training in fire safety and crime prevention
• Fire Watch Certification – Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment (F-01)
• Capable of handling the physical requirements of the position (corrected vision at a minimum level of 20/50, able to hear and understand normal conversations at a distance of 10 feet
• Practice normal hygiene and personal cleanliness, neat in dress and appearance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of critical infrastructure security operations, technical security, alarm management and mobile communication 
• Customer and Client focus 

Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities:

• Working knowledge of Critical infrastructure security operations, technical security, alarm management, mobile communication and incident reporting applications
• Training in fire safety and crime prevention
• Associate degree, or US Military background with honorable discharge, AND a minimum of five (5) years prior Security Officer experience
• Fire Watch Certification – Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment (F-01) required
