HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The ideal candidate for this position will perform all of the Pre-Award duties to provide essential support to the College of Arts and Sciences.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Grants & Contracts Officer III are the following:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to faculty and staff and assist with training on all aspect of pre-award. 

  • Lead and train GCO lls by creating, developing and providing research administration training for pre-award duties for COAS staff.

  • Manage, coordinate, and monitor the proposal submission process for federal, state, local, and private grants, contracts, and agreements.

  • Ensure all proposal elements (required documentation, budget, cost share, sub-contracts, etc) are consistent, accurate, and complete.

  • Develop budgets and budget justifications which include proofing the budget.

  • Advise the PIs on administrative requirements in preparing proposal submissions.

  • Monitor compliance with agency and university regulations regarding submission; verify all financial information to include application of the 

    appropriate F&A and fringe benefit rates for the project.

  • Educate faculty and staff regarding the proposal submission process.

  • Serves as final approver and remittance.

  • Collaborates with OSP staff on pre-award tasks related to submissions including advance accounts, JITs, budget revisions, eRA commons account setup.

  • Participates in working groups to improve research administration.

  • Serves as the point person for pre-award team members on grants, contracts and agreement issues as well as questions related to university and 

    federal guidelines.

  • Interfaces with and acts as a liaison for principal investigators, department chairs, faculty and Associate Dean of Research with central research 

    administration, Legal Affairs and granting agencies regarding the proposal submission process, award set up process, contract interpretation and 

    sponsored programs policies to ensure compliance and successful completion of grants and contracts pre-award objectives.

  • Keeps the college abreast of changes impacting pre-award grants and contracts administration.

  • Works closely with central research administration on various initiative.

  • Other duties assigned.

 

Anticipated Hiring Range: $66,600 - $83,400. Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.
