Grounds Supervisor

The Grounds Supervisor works side by side with team members on a daily basis and is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and repair of all CIEDA grounds and equipment.

The Grounds Supervisor shall report directly to the Chief Operating Office (COO) for general supervision concerning daily operations, specific goals and employee evaluations.

This position is classified as exempt.

• Works directly with the grounds crew in the mowing, hedging, preparing annual beds, weed eradication, etc.


• Maintains cleanliness and general upkeep of grounds.


• Maintains ground equipment in proper operational conditions and ensures security of equipment and supplies.


• Operates and trains the grounds staff on equipment use in a safe and efficient manner.


• Schedules daily duties and assignments.


• Supervising the grounds staff including but not limited to general supervision, timesheet approvals, performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures.


• Maintains inventory of supplies; orders and replenishes stock as needed.


• Monitors landscaping to identify and correct problems with tree and plant pruning and disease control.


• Ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner.


• Develop and implement safety programs.


• Responsible for planning actions at each site to ensure all grounds services.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.


• Minimum of two (2) years’ verifiable related job experience in monitoring and coordinating the activities of subordinates, including general supervision, performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, leave approvals, timesheets, etc. required.


• Must be proficient and efficient in the operation of tools and grounds equipment.


• Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.


• Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing. Must relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.


• Demonstrated team building skills that help individuals work as a cohesive group to achieve greater productivity, less counter-productive conflict, and higher morale required.


• Well organized, reliable and responsible.


• Must be able to routinely walk up and down stairs, climb ladder, stand, bend, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.


• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.


• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.


• Ability to adequately and successfully perform all aspects of this position.


• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.


• Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the CIEDA Personnel Policies and Procedures.
