Position SummaryThe Group Exercise & Member Experience Director is responsible for leading and growing a dynamic group exercise program while creating a strong sense of community and connection among members. This position oversees a group exercise schedule of approximately 75+ classes per week, including instructor recruitment, hiring, scheduling, coverage, payroll, performance management, and program development. The Director will also serve as a visible and engaging presence throughout the facility, helping to coordinate member social events, activities, and initiatives that enhance the overall member experience. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a group exercise program of approximately 75+ classes per week.
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, schedule, and manage group exercise instructors.
- Maintain class coverage and secure qualified substitutes as needed.
- Manage departmental payroll, including reviewing instructor hours, ensuring accuracy, and submitting payroll in a timely manner.
- Be available to teach classes and provide substitute coverage as needed, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Monitor class attendance, member feedback, instructor performance, and overall program quality.
- Develop and implement new classes, programs, and initiatives based on member interests and industry trends.
- Conduct regular instructor communication, meetings, training, and performance feedback.
- Serve as a highly visible, approachable, and energetic presence throughout the facility.
- Build strong relationships with members and create a welcoming, social, and inclusive community.
- Coordinate member social events, wellness activities, challenges, and other community-building initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote programs and create a consistent, high-quality member experience.
- Ensure classes and programs meet facility safety, certification, and professional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Nationally recognized group exercise certification required.
- Previous group exercise teaching experience required.
- Must be available to teach and provide substitute coverage during mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, scheduling, and administrative skills.
- Experience managing payroll preferred.
- Highly energetic, outgoing, personable, and comfortable engaging with members and staff.
- Passion for fitness, wellness, and creating a strong sense of community.
