Group Fitness Instructor

Description

The Duke Center for Living at Fearrington is accepting applications for a Group Fitness Instructor (Contractor). The Duke Center for Living is a medically based wellness facility set within the upscale retirement community of Galloway Ridge in Chatham County.   

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Providing group exercise instruction in a variety of formats including but not limited to: Zumba, cardio-interval, cardio dance, hi-lo choreographed, basic step, weight training, aquatics, stretch, and yoga. 
• Offer continuous supervision during class to provide a safe, effective, and motivating environment. Continually assess the participant's ability level and offer modifications as needed. 
• Arrive to class at least 10 minutes early to greet participants and set up space for any activities needed for the assigned class.
• Observe and instruct good body mechanics. Provide education on exercise, body alignment, and exercise safety. Record attendance for the class. 
• Remain flexible in staff scheduling and resolution of scheduling conflicts. 
• Opportunity to develop and implement specialized programs and class series to meet the needs of members and facility.

Requirements

• Group Exercise certification through a nationally recognized organization
• At least 6 months of experience instructing group exercise classes
• Able to provide a current and up-to-date certificate of liability insurance 
• Experience with the senior population and other special populations
• CPR/AED certification required
