Hardware Specialist

The Hardware Specialist is the in-store expert for all things plumbing, electrical, hardware, and paint.

Job duties:

• Assist customers with household projects in plumbing, electrical, paint, and hardware. Based on customer needs, you will find and suggest proper merchandise.


• Provide expertise on all hardware services offered, such as key cutting, material measuring and cutting, and sharpening.


• Sell power equipment (chainsaws, generators, pressure washers, etc.).


• Educate co-workers and customers on basic products and services offered.


• Design and build merchandise displays to effectively market products to customers.


• Set planograms in hardware. Understand the flow of the retail floor to quickly assess the customer’s needs and get them to the desired product.


• Provide customer support for the sales and special ordering of catalog accessories to customers.


• Positive promotion of Fleet Farm customer loyalty program, credit card, and other company initiatives.


• Possess the knowledge necessary to educate customers on where to find information about local building codes.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.


• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.


• 1-2 years of previous hardware sales or related experience is preferred.


• Working knowledge of core plumbing, electrical, hardware, and paint products and services.
