Job Summary:

The Librarian provides information services and resources to support the needs of users, including research, learning, and reference support. This role assists patrons in locating, evaluating, and using information effectively, manages collections and digital resources, and supports information literacy through instruction and outreach. The Librarian ensures access to reliable and organized information and contributes to an environment that promotes learning, inquiry, and knowledge discovery.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Master's degree in library science or library and information science and two (2) years of library experience in an academic, health sciences, or research library.

Certifications, Licenses, or Registration required:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical and health sciences terminology, biomedical databases (e.g., PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library), evidence-based practice principles, and systematic literature search methods. Skill in advanced literature searching and database querying, evaluating scholarly and clinical research, teaching information literacy, communicating with clinical and academic staff, and using citation management tools (e.g., EndNote, Zotero). Ability to translate clinical and research questions into effective search strategies and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced literature searches to support clinical care, education, and research across the academic medical center
  • Provide evidence-based information and reference support to physicians, researchers, students, and staff
  • Develop and execute search strategies for systematic and scoping reviews, including documentation and management of results
  • Teach and provide training on biomedical databases, information literacy, and research skills through classes, workshops, and consultations
  • Respond to complex reference and research inquiries and synthesize findings for end users
  • Evaluate, select, and maintain access to biomedical databases, electronic journals, and other information resources
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making
  • Support research activities by assisting with literature reviews, citation management, and research consultations
  • Develop instructional materials and participate in outreach to promote library services and resources
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement and development of library services and research support initiatives
