Head of Communications

ROMEO is looking for a new Head of Communications. You will be part of a platform that connects more than 3 million Gay, Bi, Queer and Trans people around the world for Dates, Friends, and Love.

Even though we are one of the big players, let's be honest: when you ask someone about Gay Dating Apps, we are not the first mentioned. We would love to change that - not only because we are a company, but because most of us are part of the rainbow family ourselves. We have been online for more than 20 years, and while the situation for most of us has improved in many countries, how did it happen that most of our big competitors are now based in homophobic countries? We would love to be the European counterpart that keeps the values of freedom, security, and sex-positivity alive.

We’re looking for someone who shares our vision of a world where our rainbow family has the same opportunities for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as everyone else. For us, this isn’t about adding more letters to LGBTQ+ or more colors to the rainbow flag - it’s about standing firmly for equality and dignity for all. • Implementing our communication strategy: You will have the unique opportunity to set up your own team. We expect you to lead, mentor, and grow your team of experts by providing guidance, setting performance expectations, and offering career development support.
• Master of Public Relations: You will increase brand awareness outside of our bubble. Growing traffic and generating more signups will give you an instant sense of achievement.
• Storytelling and user engagement: You will entertain our users with stories and news about ROMEO, raising brand awareness and encouraging word-of-mouth promotion. You’ll run targeted campaigns to increase feature engagement and help upsell our paid PLUS account.
• Data-driven management: You will manage our user funnel and CRM system. You’ll be responsible for our landing pages and app store presence, from onboarding new users to encouraging inactive users to come back.
• Cross-team collaboration: You’ll work closely with other teams, such as product and community, to advise on product requirements, feature releases, and any other communication-related topics.
• Social Media: You will develop and execute social media strategies to enhance brand visibility and engagement across multiple platforms. Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics.
• Influencer & Creator: You will build and maintain strong relationships with influencers and content creators to promote brand awareness. You will identify collaboration opportunities, negotiate partnerships, and coordinate creative content aligned with ROMEO goals.

• A senior in online communications, social media, PR and/or marketing
• Knowledge and experience in or with the rainbow family
• A visionary as well as results/data-driven as well as hands-on
• Teamwork and the ability to lead and motivate your team members to produce high-level, brand-driven content
• Organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline
• The creativity to produce exciting and interesting content
• The technological ability to work on a variety of digital platforms and also create web content
• Good written, verbal, and digital communication skills (in English)

• Full-time position in our Amsterdam office next to Central Station
• You start with a 12-month temporary contract (with the intention of longer term)
• Direct reporting to CEO
• Salary range €85.000 - €100.000 bruto per year (incl. holiday pay), depending on past experience
