Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental, Safety, Health, Affairs Manager, the position is responsible for the Security, Health & Safety of employees, contractors, vendors and visitors while on Clariant Louisville property. Support, assist, guide and direct compliance with Clariant Health, and Safety guidelines, procedures and expectations which include adherence to all applicable federal, state and local regulations to ensure Clariant maintains safe and work practices, processes and surroundings.

Position Description:
•Support the manufacturing management in driving continuous improvement
•Ensure Safety standards are being met through personal accountability, participation and effective systems
•Establish clear, audience appropriate safety procedures covering both employees and contractors
•Support ESHA manager in providing safety expertise to the site including daily site tours
•Confirm safety reviews (audits) of policies and procedures, provide feedback for shared learning. Create and verify completion of corrective action lists.
•Ensure facility has the ability to respond to any possible emergency
•Ensure and facilitate investigation of incidents and sharing of lessons learned
•Develop dynamic Safety training – both Face to Face and Computer Based
•Proactively evaluate legislative changes and assess impact to the plant operations
•Conduct Plant Hazard Analysis on topics such as (but not limited to): Testing work areas for Noise, Toxic, and/or other hazards; Arc Flash; PPE; Machine specific LOTO.
•Ensure detailed Incident Investigation with focus on Root Cause Analysis and Prevention occurs in a timely manner.
•Facilitate and implement, with the assistance of plant management, SHS policies and procedures and provide support and guidance in implementing these policies and procedures.
•Ensure federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed.
•Primarily responsible for security and safety of employees, contractors, vendors and visitors while on Clariant property.
•Assist in Security and Safety audits and projects at other Clariant facilities as needed.
•Track goals and leading safety metrics, report data to management.
•Ensure proper OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are satisfied.
•Assist in the administering of the PSM/RMP Program.
•Schedule and perform regular and random plant security and safety audits, including during the off-shifts.

Position Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene strongly preferred; related degrees in a science or engineering field also considered; 10+ years of related experience or a combination of education and experience also considered
•Skilled in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
•Knowledge of Safety and Loss Prevention programs required, knowledge of same within the Chemical industry strongly preferred
•Thorough knowledge and application of the EPA, OSHA, and Kentucky regulations. DOT a plus
•Experience creating and implementing process hazard analyses considered a plus
•Excellent safety record with a demonstrated ability to approach safety issues proactively.
•Demonstrated team leadership
•Excellent mechanical and spatial aptitude with the ability to learn and apply root cause analyses, lean and six sigma methodologies within an industrial manufacturing environment.
•Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
•Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


5+ to 7 years experience
Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree
