Maintain a visible, on-the-floor presence engaging directly with shop teams
Lead behavior-based safety initiatives that drive accountability at all levels
Compliance & Risk Management
Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs including:
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Confined Space
Fall Protection
PPE compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations
Training & Workforce Development
Partner with Operations and the Training Specialist to integrate safety into daily workflows
Deliver hands-on training for fabrication teams
Support onboarding and ongoing safety education initiatives
Incident Prevention & Investigation
Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
Track and report key safety metrics (TRIR, near misses, leading indicators)
Identify trends and implement corrective actions
Continuous Improvement
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections
Improve processes related to:
Rigging and crane operations
Welding and fabrication safety
Material handling and heavy equipment use
What You Bring
Experience
5+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing, heavy industry or industrial construction environment required: Structural steel fabrication highly preferred
Proven ability to work hands-on in a shop environment
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
Welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, SMAW preferred)
Overhead cranes, rigging, and material handling
Heavy plate fabrication and industrial equipment
Certifications
Required:
OSHA 30 (General Industry or Construction)
Preferred:
CHST or ASP
First Aid / CPR / AED
Fall Protection Competent Person
Confined Space Training
LOTO Certification
Skills
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization
Analytical mindset with a focus on root cause and prevention
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
