Health Information Management Technician

Analyzes, and scans or imports records within allotted time. Evaluates to ensure scanned and imported records are complete and accurate.  This includes adding, deleting, moving, and renaming scanned documents. Assigns deficiencies to physicians when necessary. Re-analyzes records when returned from physicians.  This may include re-scanning, deleting and indexing. Answers the department telephone and provides customer service in accordance with hospital standards. Processes requests for records from patients and for continuing care purposes. Collects data for current Quality Improvement projects within HIM. Assists with retrieval of records for hospital personnel, third party payers, or other release of information when necessary. Works with other staff (both in HIM and other departments) to complete entire processes: coding, billing, and ensuring records are available for continuing care. Follows policies and procedures on Release of Information; protects patient’s right to privacy; maintains confidentiality. Other duties as assigned by HIM Director.
