Job Description - Heavy Civil Construction Cost Manager Lead TP

Basic Job Description:

Heavy civil estimators calculate the total costs including labor, materials, equipment, and site-specific risks required to build large scale infrastructure like highways, bridges, and utilities. They analyze project plans to help construction companies submit accurate, competitive bids and secure profitable contracts.

Responsibilities:

Measuring and quantifying materials (e.g., cubic yards of dirt, tons of asphalt, or structural steel) directly from engineering blueprints

Cost analysis factoring in the expenses of heavy machinery, local labor rates, and material pricing to forecast exact construction costs.

Anticipating project challenges such as difficult terrain, adverse weather conditions, or regulatory and environmental compliance, and calculating their financial impact.

Managing quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers, and compiling the data into a final, winning bid before the tender deadline

Qualification Requirements:

B.S. Civil Engineering or related construction discipline - preferred

10 years or more of experience

Knowledge of applicable Building Systems

Possess technical knowledge of construction methods and terminology

Ability to read & interpret blueprints and produce concise Mechanical quantity take-offs utilizing company procedures and standards

Ability to manage and mentor other Civil Estimators
