Heavy Civil Sitework Superintendent / Foreman

Pay: $110,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year

Location: Thornwood, NY. This is a full-time, on-site and field-based position supporting projects throughout Westchester County and the suburban Tri-State area.

Note: Candidates must have 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience with hands-on knowledge of earthwork, excavation, and grading, plus experience overseeing underground utility installation. Sitework and suburban land development experience is strongly preferred over primarily bridge, tunnel, or subway construction backgrounds.

Job Description

• Lead daily field operations for heavy civil, sitework, and utility construction projects.
• Supervise field crews and coordinate subcontractors to keep projects safe, productive, and on schedule.
• Manage earthwork operations including excavation, grading, site preparation, and related activities.
• Oversee underground utility installation including sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water systems, and pump stations.
• Perform and verify survey and layout work in the field.
• Coordinate with electric, communications, and other utility providers.
• Oversee roadway construction including subgrade preparation and paving.
• Manage installation of curbs, sidewalks, pavers, asphalt, and other site finishes.
• Maintain quality control and ensure work meets plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Enforce jobsite safety standards and company procedures.
• Solve field challenges quickly while coordinating labor, equipment, subcontractors, and project priorities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience with earthwork, excavation, and grading.
• Strong underground utility experience including sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and water systems.
• Experience supervising crews and managing day-to-day field operations.
• Working knowledge of survey and construction layout.
• Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, and quality-control skills.
• Experience with GPS/GNSS machine control or machine guidance systems preferred.
• General proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, and Outlook.
• Site development, excavation contractor, utility contractor, or suburban civil construction experience strongly preferred.
