Job Description - Heavy Duty Technician - Diesel Mechanic


Scranton Dodge Chrysler Jeep is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and vehicles. This is a hands-on position that requires strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. If you have a passion for automotive diagnostics and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Identify and repair issues with engine, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, and other mechanical systems.
  • Replace defective parts as necessary.
  • Perform oil checks, tire rotations, alignment, and brake checks.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, parts, and inventory.
  • Communicate with customers and managers on repair orders.
  • Maintain work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and vehicles
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in Automotive or Diesel Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of diesel automotive experience
  • Knowledge of diesel engine components and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic software, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to move and lift heavy objects or equipment.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • ASE Diesel Certification preferred.
  • State and emissions certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License
