Heavy Equipment Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY:

The main responsibility of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform and schedule preventive maintenance and diagnose and repair a variety of equipment. 

FUNCTIONS:

• Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment malfunctions on all major systems including gas and diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drivelines, generators, rear-end assemblies, carburetors, and hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and cooling systems, etc.
• Perform inspection and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, buildings and facilities
• Communicate with leadership and operations to appropriately schedule any repairs and/or downtime of specific trucks or equipment
• Ensure maintenance shop is maintained in a clean, safe, and organized manner
• Requisition parts and equipment
• Prepare a schedule for routine maintenance and communicate the schedule to drivers, operators, and management
• Perform all work safely and in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MN Health Card Required
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement, preferred
• Previous experience working on off-road heavy equipment
• Welding, cutting and fabricating skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
