The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and student-centered Middle School Hebrew Teacher to deliver engaging Hebrew language instruction that helps students build confidence as global communicators. This teacher will create a structured, joyful, and academically engaging classroom where middle school students develop Hebrew language skills through speaking, listening, reading, writing, conversation, culture, and real-world communication.

The ideal candidate brings strong language instruction, excellent classroom management, and the ability to build strong relationships with adolescents. This is a meaningful opportunity for an educator who is excited to make Hebrew accessible, relevant, and engaging for middle school students from diverse backgrounds.

What You’ll Do

Hebrew Language Instruction & Student Support

• Teach engaging Hebrew language lessons that build students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills


• Support middle school students in developing vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, conversation, and written expression


• Use interactive activities, visuals, routines, discussion, texts, and cultural connections to make language learning meaningful and accessible


• Differentiate instruction to meet a range of student needs, including students who need additional support or enrichment


• Help students understand Hebrew language learning as part of global citizenship, communication, and cultural awareness

Planning, Assessment & Data Use

• Plan and deliver purposeful Hebrew lessons aligned to curriculum expectations and student learning goals


• Use student work, observation, checks for understanding, and assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction


• Identify student strengths, misconceptions, and language-development needs in order to plan targeted support


• Maintain accurate records related to student progress, participation, and growth

Collaboration & School Community

• Collaborate with Hebrew, grade-level, special education, multilingual learner, and leadership teams to support student success


• Partner with colleagues to reinforce school-wide routines, expectations, and culture


• Communicate with families as needed about student progress, strengths, and areas for growth


• Contribute to a positive school culture rooted in care, accountability, inclusion, and shared responsibility

Who You Are

• Deep belief in the limitless potential of all students and commitment to helping them thrive as global citizens


• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required


• Hebrew language proficiency required


• Pennsylvania teacher certification, or active progress toward certification, preferred


• Experience teaching Hebrew, world language, dual language, or multilingual learners preferred


• Experience teaching or supporting middle school students preferred


• Experience working in urban school communities and a commitment to building strong relationships with students, families, and staff preferred


• Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to build clear routines, high expectations, and a positive classroom culture for adolescents


• Ability to make Hebrew language learning accessible, relevant, and engaging for students with a range of backgrounds and skill levels


• Ability to use student data and observations to adjust instruction, address gaps, and accelerate growth

Compensation

Hebrew Public’s compensation model, SuRGE — Supporting, Rewarding, and Growing Educators — is designed to recognize the skill, commitment, and impact strong teachers bring to classrooms.

After your first year, you may be eligible for 5% or 10% increases annually based on your classroom impact, without needing additional graduate coursework. SuRGE also includes built-in salary enhancements for valid Pennsylvania certification and hard-to-fill roles, offering a transparent and accessible path for educators to grow their compensation while doing meaningful work with students.
