Magnolia Companies is seeking a Helper to join our Utilities Department. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual with at least 2 years of experience who is looking to expand their skills, gain hands-on experience, and grow within the utility field. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, willing to learn, and comfortable working as part of a team in a hands-on environment. 

Responsibilities

• Assist tradesmen and foremen with daily underground utility work 
• Assist with underground piping and sewer installation 
• Assist with digging ditches and manholes 
• Assist with preparing work areas for underground utility installation 
• Load and unload materials and deliveries 
• Assist with jobsite cleanup and demolition 
• Continuously shovel wet material as needed 
• Perform flagging as directed 
• Assist with confined space work 
• Follow directions from foremen and tradesmen 
• Maintain a clean and safe work area 
• Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures 

• Commitment to safety at all times

• Willingness to learn and develop new skills 
• Ability to follow directions and pay attention to detail 
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including digging, lifting, and shoveling 
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions 
• Ability to pass a Flagger written test; training will be provided 
• Ability to work in confined spaces as required 
• 2 years of construction experience preferred
