Who We Are
Since its founding in 2010, Challenge Preparatory Charter School (Challenge Prep) has provided students and families with a successful academic program in Far Rockaway, Queens. We currently serve over 1200 scholars from Kindergarten to 12th grade across 3 sites. Our school’s mission is to prepare students from the greater Far Rockaway community to excel academically, to demonstrate mastery of the NY State Learning Standards, and to achieve their career aspirations. Challenge cultivates and supports the intellectual, aesthetic, social, emotional, and ethical development of its students and prepares them to be responsible 21st century citizens. To accomplish its mission, Challenge offers a rigorous instructional program in a safe, supportive, technology-infused and data-enriched and social-emotional learning sequence, authentic field experiences, career counseling, and college coursework. It is understood that we are one organization with multiple sites, and it is expected that all members of the team collaborate to support all of our scholars.
The Technology Coordinator will report to the Director of Technology. The overall job goals and responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing staff development activities focused on enabling teachers to utilize a variety of technologies, internet resources, and software within their instructional programs
Serving as an ongoing advisor to the site principal, academic staff, grade-level teams, and Professional Learning Communities, in their respective plans for integrating various technologies, internet resources, and software to enhance teaching and learning.
\nJob Duties and Responsibilities
The staff of CCHS is committed to teaching students the values of scholarship, respect, honesty, courage, and balance in a collaborative technology-infused, inclusive family-like environment.
The technology coordinator will specifically be responsible for the following:
Oversight and maintenance/troubleshooting of technological devices, such as computers, iPads, Chromebooks, Smart Boards
Setup of all technology used for assemblies & public events held at each site
Maintenance of academic data for scholar evaluation by the academic leadership using software programs used schoolwide
Maintenance of Google education platforms, i.e., Google Classroom, etc.
Oversight of the technical aspects of annual scholar assessments
Ongoing or Periodic Duties
Serves on the Challenge Technology Committee
Other duties as assigned
SELECTION CRITERIA
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Experience using computers and other technologies for instructional purposes
Familiarity with Google Classroom and/or Apple Cloud domains and applications is desirable.
Evidence of commitment to continuous professional growth
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with colleagues, parents, students, industry partners, and the community
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and certification are required; a Master's degree preferred
Technology certified
Highly motivated to teach students from underserved areas and devoted to closing the achievement gap
