Highway Maintenance Worker

Client Profile- Indiana based company specializing in providing commercial maintenance services.

Job Summary- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of interstate roads, highways and roadways for the safety of traveling public.  Must be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.

Duties

• Must have proper work attire and personal protection
  


• Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions- hot or cold, wind, rain and snow, dust, pollen, rough/rugged grass and plants, trash
  


• Standing for extended time doing traffic control; picking up highway/roadway traffic signs
  


• Walking long distances for litter control; loading and unloading trash bags
  


• Comply with safety standards; comfortable with reading and interpreting documents, manuals, instructions, etc.
  


• Follow company policies and procedures
  


• Additional tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
  

Requirements

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience maintaining roads, operating equipment including self propelled broom, roller and or mower
  


• Prior traffic control training a plus
  


•  Must have a valid driver license if in a Supervisor role
  


• Comfortable working in all weather conditions; using hands, ability to lift up to 50 pounds; climbing, reaching kneeling, etc.
  


• Organized with ability to multitask and prioritize workflow
  


• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check (felonies are addressed on a case by case base) and drug screen
  


• Hours: M-F 7am to 4pm (1 hour lunch), occasional Saturdays; some travel in designated metropolitan area(s)
  


• Starting pay $14.00 hourly (negotiable for the right person). No group health insurance- other incentives, PTO and vacation; bonus included
