Position: Home Evaluation Technician

Division: Supportive Services

Department: Weatherization and Home Repair

Minimum Qualifications:

AA degree or BA preferred Or BPI Building Performance Certification. Or Two years’ experience in the construction or remodeling industry Or Two years' of experience in intake or case management in the social service area.

Job Location: Yakima

Salary Range: $20.57- $26.84

Position Overview: The position requires a professional Home Evaluation Technician who can identify and prioritize energy-saving measures. Must prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results. The Home Evaluation Technician is responsible for providing client intake and qualification, scheduling, case management, and database entry. This position will communicate with interdepartmental and external staff as to the status of the applicant's application.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct scheduled home evaluation and eligibility intake assessments
  • Assess and evaluate structural, environmental, safety, and functional aspects of residential properties, mechanical systems, and electrical systems
  • Document findings using standardized forms, mobile applications, or reporting tools
  • Collect accurate measurements, photographs, and notes during evaluations and use tools to assess energy savings
  • Identify potential issues, risks, or maintenance concerns and report them clearly
  • Effectively manage case notes, assessment measures, and other forms of data in various database software
  • Professionally communicate with homeowners about the evaluation process and findings
  • Gather and verify household, occupancy, and property information required to determine program or service eligibility
  • Complete standardized intake forms, questionnaires, and inspection checklists accurately
  • Comply with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports within required timelines
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment used during evaluations
  • Participate in training, quality audits, and process improvements as needed.

Requirements

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex projects while meeting critical deadlines
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in the construction, maintenance, or repair of residential buildings
  • Excellent customer service skills, including customer intake, scheduling, and case management support, and strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly, efficiently, and effectively under pressure and in high-stress situations
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter with minimal supervision
  • Innovative, patient, and persistent in identifying and pursuing available options for clients facing housing-related hardships
  • Demonstrated experience in an office environment; highly organized and self-motivated with strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong typing, electronic filing, and attention to detail
  • Bilingual Preferred but not required (English and Spanish)
  • Ability to demonstrate genuine concern for and respect toward individuals from all cultures and diverse populations served by OIC.

Additional Conditions of Employment:

Successfully pass a Criminal History & Background Check. Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test. Valid WA State Driver’s License and proof of insurance if requested.
