Hospital Billing Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hospital Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient billing processes, ensuring accuracy in billing statements, and facilitating communication between patients, insurance companies, and hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate patient bills and insurance claims in a timely manner.


• Review patient accounts for completeness and accuracy of billing information.


• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for services rendered.


• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies.


• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment plans, and outstanding balances.


• Collaborate with medical staff and insurance providers to clarify billing issues.


• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, insurance regulations, and government billing requirements.


• Utilize hospital billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems effectively.


• Generate reports related to billing activities and financial status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in medical billing preferred.


• Proven experience as a billing specialist, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.


• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), and insurance processes.


• Familiarity with healthcare billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.


• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.


• Strong communication and customer service skills.


• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work Environment
