Position Summary


The Housekeeping Project Person / Project Attendant is responsible for performing detailed and specialized cleaning projects throughout the Complex of Hotels. This position supports the Housekeeping Department by maintaining guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and other assigned areas at established cleanliness and presentation standards.


The Project Attendant focuses primarily on deep-cleaning and special projects that go beyond routine daily housekeeping duties and works closely with Housekeeping leadership and Engineering to identify and address cleanliness and maintenance needs.


Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities


· Perform scheduled deep-cleaning projects in Public areas, guest rooms, including detailed cleaning of bathrooms, showers, tubs, tile, grout, walls, doors, door frames, baseboards, vents, light fixtures, furniture, windows, balconies, and other assigned areas.


· Complete preventive-maintenance (PM) room cleaning projects and ensure rooms are thoroughly cleaned and prepared before being returned to guest inventory.


· Perform carpet extraction and shampooing, spot treatment, and other carpet-care projects throughout guest rooms, hallways, and public areas.


· Perform upholstery cleaning on chairs, sofas, headboards, and other upholstered furniture as required.


· Complete specialized floor-care projects, including scrubbing, power washing, buffing, polishing, stripping, and waxing when applicable and properly trained.


· Deep clean hallways, stairwells, elevators, landings, housekeeping closets, service areas, storage rooms, and other back-of-house areas according to established schedules.


· Assist with detailed cleaning of public areas and other hotel spaces as assigned.


· Clean areas that are not normally addressed during routine room cleaning, including behind and underneath furniture, appliances, beds, fixtures, and other hard-to-reach locations.


· Remove and reinstall curtains, shower curtains, mattress protectors, bedding components, and other items when required for scheduled cleaning projects.


· Assist with moving furniture, mattresses, rollaway beds, cribs, housekeeping equipment, and supplies while following proper lifting and safety procedures.


· Inspect assigned areas while completing projects and report maintenance deficiencies, including damaged furniture, plumbing issues, electrical concerns, paint or wall damage, broken fixtures, and equipment problems.


· Communicate maintenance needs promptly to Housekeeping leadership so appropriate work orders can be submitted and followed up on.


· Assist with VIP room preparation, high-priority rooms, special events, seasonal projects, and other operational cleaning needs as directed by Housekeeping management.


· Maintain and organize housekeeping storage areas, closets, equipment, and project supplies.


· Properly operate and maintain housekeeping equipment such as carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums, floor machines, steamers, and other approved equipment.


· Follow established procedures for the proper use, labeling, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.


· Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all hotel, company, OSHA, and workplace safety standards.


· Immediately report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and discontinue use when equipment presents a safety concern.


· Maintain assigned project equipment in clean and operational condition after each use.


· Complete assigned projects within established timelines while maintaining quality standards.


· Communicate project progress, completed assignments, outstanding items, and operational challenges to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.


· Assist Room Attendants, Housepersons, Public Area Attendants, Laundry, or other Housekeeping functions when operational needs require.


· Respond professionally and courteously to guest requests and interactions while working in guest-accessible areas.


· Follow hotel procedures regarding guest privacy, security, lost and found, key control, and access to guest rooms.


· Perform other housekeeping-related duties and special projects as assigned by management.


Qualifications


· Previous housekeeping, hotel, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.


· Experience operating carpet extractors, floor machines, or other specialized cleaning equipment preferred.


· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established cleaning procedures.


· Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.


· Ability to work independently and complete assigned projects with limited supervision.


· Ability to prioritize assignments and manage time effectively.


· Ability to work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and other hotel departments.


· Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and workplace safety practices preferred.


· Must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and consistent attendance.


Physical Requirements


The employee must be able to perform the physical functions necessary for housekeeping project work, including:


· Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.


· Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movement.


· Climbing stairs and using approved step stools or ladders when required.


· Pushing and pulling housekeeping carts and cleaning equipment.


· Lifting and carrying housekeeping supplies, linens, equipment, mattresses, and other items within company-established weight and safety guidelines.


· Working with approved cleaning chemicals and wearing required PPE.


· Working in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and indoor or outdoor areas as operationally required.


Work Schedule


Schedule may vary based on hotel occupancy, operational needs, and scheduled projects. The position may be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Performance Expectations


The Housekeeping Project Attendant is expected to consistently maintain hotel cleanliness and safety standards, complete assigned projects thoroughly and efficiently, properly care for hotel equipment and property, promptly communicate maintenance or safety concerns, and contribute to the overall appearance and condition of the hotel.
