Housekeeping Associate

Position Summary

Our Housekeeping Associates play a key role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for families with children in the hospital. This full-time, 40-hour/week position involves housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, cleaning, dusting, changing, and laundering linen. Candidates should have strong attention to detail, experience in customer service, and be punctual, efficient, and eager to learn.

Ronald McDonald House Tampa Bay has been working to improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families since 1980. Our primary program, the Ronald McDonald House, provides a place to stay for families that have children receiving medical treatment at Tampa Bay hospitals and outpatient centers. The organization runs 5 Ronald McDonald Houses in Tampa Bay, 3 located in St. Petersburg and 2 located in Tampa. 

Overview

Work location: 401 7th Ave S, St. Petersburg, with occasional travel to our Tampa Locations preferred. 

Schedule: Generally, a set schedule based on house needs. May require 1 or 2 weekend days. We value work-life balance and thus do not have weekly changing schedules for our housekeeping team at RMH.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The full-time Housekeeping Associate helps maintain a clean, comfortable, and orderly home environment while supporting guests with daily needs. This includes keeping self-serve meal areas stocked and tidy and ensuring all housekeeping work contributes to a compassionate, welcoming, and safe space for families receiving pediatric care.

• Clean and tidy guest rooms and shared spaces; sanitize surfaces, spot mop, and reset materials to standards. 
  
• Clean kitchen and laundry appliances and assist with select linen laundering.
  
• Regularly interact with families to assess needs, provide support, and guide them on using kitchen, laundry, and common area appliances.
  
• Support special house activities, events, including holiday/seasonal decorating and other duties as assigned. 
  
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and in-service quarterly team meetings.
  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS/RESTRICTIONS 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience 

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  
• Relevant housekeeping experience required. 
  
• Able to work independently and within a team to achieve tasks
  
• Bilingual preferred, but must have the ability to speak and understand English fluently
  
• Must meet healthcare requirements of partner hospital, complete biannual CPR training, and annual fire alarm training. 
  
• Understanding and sensitivity apropos to the intersections of ability, class, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religion/spirituality, and sexual orientation. 
  

Physical Demands

This job involves all the following in various degrees but is not limited to only these physical demands: attendance, standing, sitting, walking, squatting, carrying, lifting, climbing, twisting, reaching, pulling, pushing, cleaning, writing, hearing, seeing, speaking. The ability to push up to 50 pounds and lift up to 40 pounds.
