Houseman

Position Summary:

Responsible for the cleanliness of the public and guest areas of the hotel and restaurant.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Responsible for the cleaning of corridors, guest areas, service areas and linen closets.


2. Empty housekeepers' trash and linen bags.


3. Carries trash to dumpster.


4. Vacuums corridors and/or guestrooms.


5. Delivers rollaway and cribs to guestrooms.


6. Stocks supplies needed for linen closets.


7. Vacuums public areas.


8. Sweeps and mops service landings.


9. Vacuums vending machine areas and keeps machines clean.


10. Checks all public restrooms for cleanliness several times daily.


11. Checks each floor to make sure fire doors are open.


12. Checks elevators for cleanliness.


13. Assists with luggage handling.


14. Cleans rooms when needed.


15. Checks lights and changes bulbs.


16. Maintains outside grounds daily.


17. Removal of snow and shoveling. 


18. Maintains all houseman equipment and organizes supplies


19. Assists in the unloading of deliveries and the proper storage of such.


20. Assists in the cleanliness and maintenance of dining and banquet rooms


21. Assists in set up for banquet functions.

• Requires ability to communicate orally with guests and co-workers.  


• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities


• Must display very good organization and time management skills


• To always maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance 

Minimum Knowledge:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Must speak, read, and write proficient English

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.
