Job Description:
The HTX Program Coordinator leads the local implementation of all Girlstart programs across the Houston area. Working closely with internal teams and local partners, this role builds strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, parents, donors, and STEM CREW to support organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
STEM CREW Program Leader Management
- Responsible for front line staff (called STEM CREW) hiring, training, management, and supervision
- Review and approve biweekly payroll for STEM CREW
- Maintain consistent communication and provide feedback to STEM CREW throughout programming
Program Operations
- Organize HTX area programming logistics and day-to-day implementation
- Maintain participant registration forms, parent communication (including confirmations, reminders, follow up emails/letters), attendance, survey results, photos, etc.
- Facilitate successful relationships between program partners, STEM CREW, and Girlstart
- Oversee Girlstart Houston operations (office organization and supplies management, STEM CREW and volunteer supervision, collecting the mail, etc.)
- Work with Girlstart team to implement Community STEM programming including annual Girls in STEM Conference
- Supervise, assist, and/or deliver in-person programming, including but not limited to after school clubs, summer camps, community STEM programming, as needed
- Serve as Girlstart representative at Houston area events (typically in-person), including but not limited to recruitment events, luncheons, evening networking events, and volunteer fairs
Support Funding and Expansion
- Work to expand Girlstart's presence in Houston by leading conversations with and outreach towards new school districts in the region
- Research and connect with potential new Girlstart locations and schools, establishing new partners in alignment with programmatic goals
- Consults with Director of Programs and Chief Program Officer in both the facilitation and expansion of programming in the Houston region
- Support the engagement team's efforts to secure new and renewed gifts
- Represent Girlstart's Houston presence in meetings with donors, funders, and volunteers as needed
Organizational Support
- Support Girlstart's strategic plan goals
- Communicate and collaborate with the Girlstart team regarding the implementation of Girlstart programs across the nation
- Assist with various projects and tasks to support Girlstart operations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or related experience in youth programming or informal STEM education
- Minimum two years of experience and proven success in planning and implementing quality programming for youth
- Ability to supervise, motivate, train, and coach college age youth
- Willingness to learn HR systems and programs in order to hire and onboard program staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive, friendly, flexible and outgoing
- Effective organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team player and foster cooperative work
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and deliverables
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a commitment to the mission of Girlstart
- Reliable, dependable, and timely
- Knowledge of educational learning standards and experience creating youth serving curriculum preferred
Special Requirements:
- Reliable transportation. This position needs to be comfortable driving to observe or lead programs, attend events, etc.
- Experience with Google Suite, Zoom, and working with remote teams
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, when needed
- Physical ability to lift at least 10lbs
Location: The HTX Program Coordinator is based out of Girlstart's office, 2000 Crawford, Houston, TX 77002. This position will be required to be in person with some flexibility for remote work.
