Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained by our client, Cadogan Tate, for the search of their HR Business Partner.

Position Summary

The HRBP s the on-site HR leader for designated Southern California operations and a trusted partner to employees and managers. This role is responsible for employee relations, workplace investigations, California employment-law compliance, HR operations, HRIS data integrity, and the consistent execution of company policies and programs. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, solutions-oriented HR professional who can work independently, manage sensitive matters with sound judgment, and know when to involve the VP of HR or legal counsel. This position reports to the VP of Human Resources, Americas & Global Lead, HRIS, and works out of the Vernon/Los Angeles or Pacoima, California, based on business needs and candidate location. The HRBP  will work onsite Full-time, Monday-Friday; typically 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Pacific, with flexibility based on business needs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site HR resource for employees and managers, providing practical guidance on policies, benefits, workplace concerns, and day-to-day people matters.
  • Lead employee relations matters and workplace investigations, including intake, documentation, fact-finding, resolution recommendations, corrective action support, and timely escalation of significant issues.
  • Apply current California employment requirements and company policies consistently; partner closely with the VP of HR and legal counsel on high-risk, complex, or litigated matters.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee records and HRIS data; conduct quality checks on employee transactions, timekeeping, payroll-related information, and reporting, and promptly resolve discrepancies with the appropriate partners.
  • Monitor HR operational risks and follow through on issues involving timekeeping, wage-and-hour practices, documentation, employee complaints, workers’ compensation administration, and required workplace postings.
  • Oversee local onboarding once pre-employment steps are complete, including in-person Form I-9 responsibilities and coordination with managers and the training function.
  • Coordinate with the external recruiting partner through weekly requisition reviews; the external partner manages sourcing, offer letters, and background checks.
  • Support benefits communication and open enrollment in partnership with the benefits broker and HR team, using the company’s HRIS and established processes.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for workers’ compensation documentation and workflows as responsibilities transition to managers and supervisors within the HR system.
  • Support the continued adoption and effective use of UKG Ready and other HR technologies, helping managers and employees follow standardized, paperless processes.
  • Build credible relationships across operational, professional, and frontline employee groups while representing the organization with professionalism, discretion, and strong customer service.
  • As the role develops, provide guidance or supervision to another HR team member and offer limited support to other West Coast locations. Occasional travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of progressive human resources experience, including substantial employee relations and investigation responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of California employment law and wage-and-hour requirements, with the judgment to recognize risk and seek legal guidance when appropriate.

  • Experience independently conducting and documenting workplace investigations and supporting corrective action processes.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as UKG Ready, ADP Workforce Now, Workday, or a comparable system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and sensitive employee matters objectively and professionally.Experience supporting operations, logistics, moving/storage, field-based, or mixed hourly and salaried workforces.• Experience working with external employment counsel, benefits brokers, recruiting partners, and training teams
  • Being bi-lingual in Spanish and English is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHRca, PHR, SPHR, or another relevant HR credential.
