HR Generalist

Purpose of Position:

 The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in supporting our workforce through every phase of their career. You'll work closely with leaders and employees alike to solve problems, champion our culture, and help the business succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational & Employee Support

• Provide support and HR expertise to assigned plants and personnel; in the field 30-40% of the time.


• Advise on the application of company policies, procedures & appropriate documentation.


• Partner with leaders on employee relations, coaching, performance management, and investigations.


• Administer Ohio unemployment claims.

1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

• Recruit & attend local job fairs and CDL schools.


• Collaborate with management to address workforce planning.


• Assist with the hiring process and offer letters.


• Conduct exit interviews.

1. Compliance, Records & HR Strategy

• Maintain employee files including Department of Transportation (DOT) Driver Qualification files.


• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.


• Ensure compliance with Federal & state employment laws including DOT regulations.


• Serve as back up to HR Manager in their absence.


• Aid HR Managers with special projects as needed, i.e. benefits open enrollment, employee training.


• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Experience & Education: 5+ years of HR experience with a strong grasp of employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII); Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Core Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and group facilitation skills with the ability to influence without formal authority.


• Work Style: Detail-oriented self-starter who excels at multi-tasking, follow-through, and operating independently in a fast-paced environment.


• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in HRIS software, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office packages.

Compensation

Dependent on experience and qualifications.
