HSE Coordinator

PURPOSE & PRIORITIES

The HSE Coordinator is committed to protecting worker health and safety through the recognition, evaluation, and control of hazards in the ADAMA workplace; and protecting the environment through pollution prevention control measures and best practices.  

The HSE Coordinator position embraces the HSE Vision of ADAMA Georgia by promoting, supporting, and being a champion of ADAMA HSE programs, initiatives, and projects, under the direction of the HSE Manager.

As a member of the HSE Team, the HSE Coordinator is expected to foster a collaborative environment through consistent and direct communication with the HSE Manager.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a current working knowledge of HSE regulations and new legislation

• Build HSE Team reliability at the assigned location by establishing and maintaining a daily HSE presence on the plant & warehouse work floor.

• Serve in a technical support capacity in the areas of occupational health and safety, process safety, and environmental protection for the assigned location, and additional location(s) at the direction of the HSE Manager. 

• Inspect, evaluate, and analyze workplace environments for adherence to ADAMA standards, policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

• Identify potential occupational & environmental hazards by overseeing monitoring programs and conducting regular audits of programs.

• Reduce and eliminate health risks by implementing corrective actions & suspending operations as needed.

• Develop HSE programs, procedures, and training initiatives, as needed to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors, and implement in accordance with review and approval of the HSE Manager.

• Train all new employees and temporary workers to ensure each is prepared to work safety in the workplace, and prevent pollution releases from the facility, and ensure training effectiveness.

• Assess and implement ergonomic solutions for the safety and health of the workers

• Keep the ADAMA Georgia HSE Manager apprised of all issues and events that affect the environment, safety, and health of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline preferred.


• 2 – 3 years experience in environmental, health, and safety or related field.


• Professional certifications not required but are a plus:  CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazards Materials Manager), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)


• Proficient computer and organizational skills


• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Required to sit and walk frequently, stand, bend, climb and lift up to 30 pounds on occasion.

Combination of chemical plant environment, warehouse, and office time.
