Description

We are a growing Virginia provider of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced in independently processing bi-weekly payroll for a medium-sized organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare and process bi-weekly payroll
  • Review timecards, overtime, PTO, deductions, differentials, and payroll adjustments
  • Resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding and employee orientation
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready personnel files
  • Track background checks, credentials, training, and required employee documentation
  • Assist with benefits, leave, workers' compensation, and employee relations
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of DSPs and other employees
  • Maintain HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping records
  • Support DBHDS, DMAS, and HR compliance requirements

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of HR experience preferred
  • Hands-on bi-weekly payroll processing experience required
  • Experience supporting hourly/non-exempt employees
  • Strong knowledge of timekeeping, overtime, PTO, and payroll procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong Excel, Word, and HRIS/payroll system skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet strict deadlines
  • IDD, DBHDS, behavioral health, healthcare, or human-services experience strongly preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus

Compensation

$55,000–$65,000 annually, based on HR, payroll, and IDD/healthcare experience.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous HR experience with a DBHDS-licensed provider, IDD organization, behavioral health organization, healthcare provider, or other regulated human-services organization.
  • Experience supporting a workforce that includes hourly, non-exempt, shift-based, and direct-care employees.
  • Experience with 24-hour residential or healthcare staffing environments.
  • Knowledge of DSP onboarding and competency requirements.
  • Experience preparing personnel files for regulatory or compliance audits.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification.
  • Advanced Excel and payroll reporting skills

Salary Description

$55,000- $65,000
