Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist provides hands-on HR support to employees and leaders across Armstrong. This role focuses on employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, HR administration, and supporting HR programs and initiatives. It is a blend of operational excellence and proactive partnership, ensuring HR practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with our company values.
Key Accountabilities
Employee Lifecycle Management
Serve as the primary contact for employees on HR policies, programs, and inquiries
Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles — posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and supporting offer preparation
Facilitate onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition for new employees
Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HRIS systems
Employee Relations & Support
Provide day-to-day guidance on benefits, employee relations, performance, and workplace matters
Support investigations and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment aligned with Armstrong’s culture and values
HR Programs & Administration
Administer and support HR programs such as annual reviews, merit increases, and recognition initiatives
Coordinate benefits enrollment, payroll changes, and leave management in collaboration with the Total Rewards team
Maintain compliance with employment legislation (ADA, FMLA, EEOC, ERISA, OSHA, and so on)
Manage leave administration (Federal and state programs)
Prepare reports and maintain documentation for audits and compliance
Training, Development & Engagement
Support implementation of learning and development programs, including individual development plans (IDP’s)
Assist with employee engagement surveys, data analysis, and follow-up actions
Help coordinate internal events and communication activities to strengthen culture and engagement
HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
Participate in HR initiatives such as policy updates, process enhancements, and system improvements
Support change initiatives and workforce planning activities as needed
Key Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
2+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a corporate or manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of US employment laws and HR best practices
Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills
