What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hour, based on experience and education. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to:

Location

The Office of Human Resources within the City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field three days a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days. The mandatory in office day is Monday, and core business hours are between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

What You’ll Do

The Office of Human Resources has an opening for an HR Technician II to join our Records Team.  This team is responsible for ensuring all personnel-related transactions are submitted and approved in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, rules, and employment law, and also provides consultation and answers questions related to these requests.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control on all personnel transactions to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, career service rules, city charter and federal and state regulations
  • Audit and reconcile all personnel transactions by identifying the desired result and codifying the request to ensure that all applicable rules, policies, and procedures are adhered to
  • Stay current with changes in related career service rules, employment laws, and procedures to ensure accurate processing of personnel transactions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal HR partners and external city agency clients and serve as a consultant and liaison to handle non-routine questions, resolve problems and misunderstandings
  • Educate internal and external customers on career service rules, OHR policies and practices
  • Review and verify the legal authorization to work in the United States of all new employee hires
  • Maintain employee personnel files and creates, audits, and distributes employee files in accordance with internal policies and procedures, career service rules and federal law
  • Receive and respond to CORA requests, including redaction of sensitive information
  • Conduct impromptu and formalized training on employee records processing, including preparing job aides, presentations, and other documentation to educate HR staff, employees, and management on how to accurately submit and process employee transactions utilizing HRIS self-service functionality
  • Develop and continuously review internal processes and procedures to ensure continuous quality control of personnel transactions
  • Make suggestions for changes in business processes and participates in the development and testing of said processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Two (2) years of experience in an administrative environment
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
  • License/Certifications: None
