Title: HR Specialist
Compensation: $60,000 to $75,000 annually
Location: Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
Schedule: Full-time, Onsite position
About The Job:
Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit an HR Specialist to join their team. Our client is an established manufacturing organization serving a highly regulated industry, with a strong focus on quality, precision, and partnership.
This hands-on role supports employees and leaders with day-to-day HR questions, processes, and workplace needs. The HR Specialist will be accessible onsite, build strong relationships across the facility, and take the lead on leave of absence and workers’ compensation administration while also supporting orientation, employee relations, and the overall employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead leave of absence and workers’ compensation administration, including supporting employees with claims, monitoring claim status, partnering with the leave administrator, maintaining accurate time records, and helping ensure benefit payments are processed timely.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to employees and leaders on policy interpretation, policy application, and employee relations matters, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
- Provide backup support for new hire orientation and facilitate new hire check-ins and ongoing employee touchpoints.
- Support site offboarding activities and the unemployment process, including responding to claims and attending appeals hearings when requested.
- Participate in weekly and monthly reporting activities and ensure employee paperwork and files related to assigned processes are accurate and maintained.
- Support workplace committees and initiatives focused on wellness, people, and culture.
- Partner with management and employees to strengthen working relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
- Promote continuous improvement and new ways of working within HR by collaborating effectively, communicating proactively, gathering feedback, and identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and the employee experience.
- Identify and lead more complex HR process enhancements.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of related Human Resources experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is critical.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, convey information professionally, and build healthy working relationships.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and systems-thinking skills.
- Strong initiative, sound judgment, decision-making skills, and a results-oriented approach.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, follow through on commitments, and consistently achieve business results.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
