IMMIGRATION LAW ATTORNEY (Worcester)

CWJC seeks an attorney to join a vibrant, talented team that provides legal assistance in a range of humanitarian-based immigration law matters. The attorney's work will focus on removal defense work, largely but not exclusively for non-detained individuals. The position is funded by a state grant under the Massachusetts Access to Counsel Initiative ("MACI") initiative which is designed to expand access to counsel for Massachusetts noncitizens in removal proceedings and will provide specialized training and mentorship. The attorney will be based in CWJC's Worcester office and, in addition to directly serving clients, will assist in the preparation of periodic grant reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• New law school graduates and more experienced lawyers are eligible to apply.


• Fluency or advanced proficiency in language in addition to English strongly preferred, particularly Spanish.


• Prior experience in immigration law and demonstrated experience working with diverse communities preferred.


• Ability and willingness to manage a growing and busy caseload over time.


• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative setting are important.

COMPENSATION:

• The starting salary for this position is $73,000, which is based on a union scale and adjusted upward depending on experience to a maximum of $109,000.


• CWJC has a hybrid work environment and requires advocates to work in their assigned office at least three days per week.
