Job Description - in- Home Therapist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The In-Home Therapist:

  • Carries a caseload of up to 12 youth/families
  • Provides on-call support 24/7 and participates in an on-call rotation (including weekends and holidays)
  • Develops and implements treatment plans weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly based on frequency of modalities
  • Conducts initial in-home assessment (psychosocial), CANS, and clinical research assessment prior to first wraparound meeting
  • Conducts on-going assessments as well as in-home therapy, individual therapy, and family-driven family/marital therapy
  • Collects information about youth/family using interview, case history, visual and auditory observation techniques, and appraisal and assessment methods
  • Observes family's home environment to identify safety and health hazards
  • Attends wraparound meetings with youth and parents/guardians (frequency determined by wraparound team)
  • Attends school meetings, DCPS meetings, and court hearings as needed
  • Acts as an advocate if youth are facing legal charges
  • Supports professional development of staff by attending weekly meetings and completing field visits alongside leadership 
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation in an electronic medical record system (EMR)
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Additional Information:

  • Schedule is flexible and non-traditional as it is based around the availability of youth and families served.
  • Applicants must possess a current, valid driver’s license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Community-based staff will be reimbursed for applicable mileage.

Qualifications:

Please refer to the requirements below to ensure that your education and experience meet the qualifications. 

  • Licensed Applicants Must:
    • Hold one of the following licenses: LCSW, LGSW, ALC, or LPC
    • Have two years of proven post-Master’s experience in family and children’s services
       
  • Master’s Degree Applicants Must:
    • Possess a degree in a social services discipline (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy)
    • Have five years of proven post-Master’s experience in family and children’s services
  •  All Applicants Must Have:
    • Experience with at-risk youth (which may include one or more of the following behaviors: truancy, alcohol/substance abuse, homicidal/suicidal ideations, problem sexual behavior, verbal/physical aggression, runaway, antisocial behaviors, etc.)
    • Experience with clinical case management or practice of therapeutic interventions
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Basic computer knowledge
    • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
