Job Summary

IMI is seeking a full-time Outside Sales Representative local to the Athens, GA area.

Essential Functions

The Sales Representative will be responsible for selling machining and fabrication services, finding and communicating with potential customers, increasing sales, and building long-lasting customer relationships.

  • This role is crucial for promoting and selling our services, ensuring cutomer satisfaction, and meeting company sales targets.
  • Identify and connect with potential customers to promote and sell our machining and fabrication services.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • Understand customer needs and provide solutions that align with our product offerings.
  • Prospect for new customers through cold calling, meetings at tradeshows, or other proven methods.
  • Services include: sheer, bending, rolling and welding for custom fabrication of miscellaneous, non-load bearing metals.
  • Machining to include vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, and CNC's to produce custom proprietary designs, rolls, drums, mandrels and shafts.
  • Equipment examples include:
    • Doosan CNC Lathe (21" swing/diameter, 72" between centers, and 6;5" spindle bore)
    • Okuma CNC Lathe (14" swing, 25" between centers)
    • Toyoda CNC Vertical Mill (50" x 25" x 18" envelope, 26" x 56" table, true 4th axis)
    • Mazak CNC Mill (40" x 20" x 10" envelope, 21" x 52" table, #50 taper head, 6,000rpm)
    • Bullard Vertical Lathe (58" swing/diameter, 20" length)
    • Summit Horizontal Boring Mill
    • Leonard 1500 Engine Lathe (65" swing, 10' between centers)
    • Multiple manual lathes and key seaters
    • Multiple CNC press brakes, shears, pipe benders, vertical saw, beam line and various welders
    • Water jet (5'x12' sheet up to 6" thick)
    • Plasma cutter (4' x 8' sheet up to 1" thick)
    • Laser cutter (5' x 12' sheet up to 1" thick)

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of three to five years of sales experience within an industrial environment.
  • Strong sales abilities and proven success within an outside sales role.
  • Previous estimating a plus.
  • Proven experience in selling CNC and traditional machining services, as well as custom fabrication services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to learn and listen, adapting to customer needs and feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Computer experience, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, and Outlook.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.​​​​​​​
  • Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 5-10% of the time.
