Industrial Material Handler / Crane Operator

Pay: Starting at $22.00/hour; higher pay may be available depending on experience
Position Overview
We are looking for a versatile Material Handler / Crane Operator to support steel fabrication operations in both the shop and yard. This position involves moving and staging structural steel, operating material-handling equipment, preparing shipments, and assisting different areas of production as needed.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with heavy materials, operating multiple types of equipment, and working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Move, load, unload, and stage structural steel and other materials throughout the yard and facility.
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and Pettibone/telehandler equipment.
- Assist with trailer organization and jockeying as needed.
- Skid and position materials for production or shipment.
- Prepare materials and equipment for shipping.
- Operate machinery as needed to support shop production.
- Clean parts and materials as required.
- Assist with inventory and material tracking.
- Work with other departments to keep production and material flow moving efficiently.
- Follow safe operating procedures when using cranes, vehicles, and other equipment.
- Maintain reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating overhead cranes.
- Experience with Pettibone/telehandler equipment.
- Material handling or warehouse experience preferred.
- Some experience working with structural steel.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to handle and move heavy materials safely.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.
- Willingness to learn new tasks and assist in different areas as needed.
