JOB DESCRIPTION\: 
The Instructor, Research Faculty is a non-tenure-track faculty member responsible for developing and conducting independent and collaborative research that advances the department's scientific mission. The individual will contribute to externally funded research programs, publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals, mentor trainees and students, and collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators. 
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Develop, implement, and manage research projects aligned with departmental priorities.
   
• Design and conduct basic, translational, or population-based research studies.
   
• Collect, analyze, interpret, and present research findings.
   
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
   
• Present research findings at local, regional, national, and international scientific meetings.
   
• Develop and submit competitive grant applications to federal agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors.
   
• Maintain compliance with institutional, federal, and regulatory requirements.
   

• Maintain accurate research records and documentation.
   

   

   

  COLLABORATION:
   

• Collaborate with faculty investigators across departments and institutions.
   
• Participate in multidisciplinary research initiatives and departmental research programs.
   
• Contribute scientific expertise to collaborative grant proposals and publications.
   

• Foster productive relationships with research staff, clinicians, and external collaborators.
   

   

   

  EDUCATION AND MENTORSHIP:
   

• Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, residents, and medical students participating in research activities.
   
• Participate in educational conferences, seminars, journal clubs, and departmental research meetings.
   

• Provide instruction related to research methodologies and scientific inquiry as appropriate.
   

   

   

  ACADEMIC SERVICE:
   

• Participate in departmental, institutional, and professional committees as assigned.
   
• Serve as a reviewer for scientific journals and grant applications when appropriate.
   

• Contribute to departmental strategic initiatives and research development efforts.
   

   

   

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
   

• Doctoral degree (PhD, or equivalent)
   
• Demonstrated research experience with a strong publication record appropriate for career stage.
   
• Evidence of scientific productivity and potential for independent investigation.
   
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
   

• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
   

   

   

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
   

• Postdoctoral research training or equivalent advanced research experience.
   
• Experience preparing grant applications or participating in funded research.
   
• Experience mentoring students or trainees.
   
• Record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
   
• Experience with clinical, translational, or laboratory research methodologies relevant to the department.
   

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
