Your Opportunity


The Instrumentation & Controls Designer is responsible for designing and implementing PLC and DCS-based control solutions for project work in the following sectors; semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology.


Your Key Responsibilities



  • Apply engineering principles and practices to diverse design and design/build projects.

  • Support project and discipline management team in the execution of projects.

  • Provide Instrumentation and Controls Engineering services to design and specify I&C systems for complex Process and Mechanical systems required for high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, water and waste-water processing facilities.  This includes preparing wiring and raceway routing plans, instrument data sheets, process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (PID), loop wiring diagrams, PLC/DCS wiring diagrams, instrument installation plans and details, logic diagrams, sequences of operation, input/output databases, and other documentation.

  • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team of electrical, I&C, process, mechanical, and Electrical engineers, construction supervisors, and vendors.

  • Some travel, both domestic and international, may be required

  • Other duties as assigned



Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials



  • Experience developing electrical construction documents in compliance with NFPA 70 and UL508A.

  • Experience developing P&IDs, loop wiring diagrams, wiring schematics, PLC/DCS control panel layouts, instrument plan diagrams, and conduit routing plans in compliance with ISA standards and practices.

  • Experience designing and implementing industrial communication networks including Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, Devicenet, wireless telemetry, fiber networks.

  • Familiar with Revit, P&ID, and BIM software.

  • Previous mission critical facility, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or biotech project experience desired but not required.


Education and Experience



  • 5 or more years of experience

  • Degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
