Job Summary

The Instrumentation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the management, maintenance, availability, quality, and inventory of surgical instrumentation and equipment utilized throughout the hospital. This position serves as a liaison between Sterile Processing, Operating Room (OR), Surgical Services, vendors, and clinical departments to ensure instrumentation is available, functional, compliant with regulatory standards, and supports safe patient care.

The Instrumentation Coordinator oversees instrument tracking, repair programs, inventory optimization, loaner instrumentation management, quality assurance initiatives, and process improvement activities while maintaining compliance with AAMI, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and hospital policies.

Pay Range

Minimum $55,598 Midpoint $73,653 Maximum $91,728

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum 3–5 years Sterile Processing experience. Previous experience coordinating instrumentation, inventory management, or surgical services preferred.

Preferred: Experience with pediatric instrumentation preferred.

Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred: Associate's Degree preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.

Special Kills:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Knowledge of instrument repair processes and standards.
• Strong understanding of AAMI standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience using CensiTrac or similar instrument tracking systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, OR leadership, and vendors.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

Licensure

Required: One of the following required:

• Healthcare Sterile Processing Association CRCST
• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Certificationd Instrument

Preferred

• CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist)
• CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader)
• CER (Certified Endoscope Reprocessor)

Work Environments - Functional Demand:
